The Shoe Box
Every open request on the Shoe Board is a Lace Tag in this box — automatically, the moment it goes up. When there is money in the general fund that nobody has pointed at a particular child, we pull the lace and the box picks who it covers. Nobody at Leslie's Laces chooses.
How to earn extra Lace Tags
Extra Lace Tags cap at 50 per family per month and reset on the 1st. They stack on top of the Lace Tag every open request already has — no purchase or donation ever necessary, and nobody's spot in the box depends on doing any of this. Five businesses in the first week fills your whole month's 50 — sharing alone can get there too, it just takes the month to do it.
The flyer and the game plan are on your advocate page — put in your family number and it loads your own town's kids.

So we know it's really you: your family number plus the email on your request — or the last 4 of the phone on it.
The name and business email are how a photo becomes real — we may reach out to thank them.

How it works
Who's in the box?
Every open request on the Shoe Board, automatically. If your child is on the board, they have a Lace Tag. You don't sign up and you don't do anything — and doing nothing never takes you out.
The drawing is one way a pair gets covered — supporters also cover kids directly from the board, every day.
What happens when a request is drawn?
We buy that child's shoes with money from the general fund and reach out to their family the same way we do for every covered pair. The request gets crossed off the board once the shoes have actually gone out.
One child is drawn at a time, never a whole family — every child holds their own Lace Tag.
How do I know it's fair?
The pick is made by our system, completely at random, from every Lace Tag in the box. No person picks, and no person can nudge it. Every draw is recorded the moment it happens and prints a stub anyone can see — the spinning box is just the show, played after the pick is already written down.
The fine print
No purchase or donation necessary to be in the drawing, ever. The Shoe Box is run entirely by Leslie's Laces; it is not sponsored by, endorsed by, or associated with TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, or any other platform. Sharing on social media is one way to earn extra Lace Tags, never the only way, and never a condition of receiving shoes.
For the technically curious: every stub carries the draw's recorded starting number (the "seed") and a fingerprint of the full Lace Tag list. Anyone holding those can re-run the draw and get the same winner, forever — which means a draw can be checked by anybody and can never be quietly redone.
