What we collect, and what we'll never do with it
Effective July 20, 2026
Leslie's Laces exists to get new shoes to students who need them. Handling families' information carefully isn't a legal checkbox for us — it's the heart of how this program works. This page says plainly what we collect, why, and where the hard lines are.
What we collect
When a parent or guardian requests shoes: your name, an email address or phone number, your city and state, and your child's shoe size, size category, and a boy's/girl's/no-preference selection. That's the whole form. We deliberately do not ask for your home address up front — if a mailing address is needed to ship shoes, we ask you privately, one-on-one, only after your request is matched.
When a supporter covers a pair or donates: your name, your email address or phone number, and your donation details. Card numbers go directly to our payment processor (Stripe) — they never touch our systems and we never see them.
When you write to us: the name, email address, and message you send through our contact form.
About children
Our forms are for parents and guardians, not children. We never ask for a child's name, photo, school, or birthdate — only a shoe size and category, provided by their parent or guardian. Our website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
How we use it
Solely to run the Leslie's Laces program: posting anonymous requests to the public Shoe Board, matching supporters with requests, processing donations, shipping shoes, answering your messages, and keeping you updated about your own request or gift. Nothing else.
What appears publicly
The public Shoe Board shows only: a request ID, shoe size and category, a boy's/girl's/no-preference note, city and state, and status. Never a name, contact detail, school, or any personal story. This is our Dignity Promise, and there are no exceptions to it.
What we never do
- We never sell personal information. Not to anyone, not for anything.
- We never share personal information with third parties, except the service providers below who help us run the program, shipping carriers delivering shoes, or where the law requires it.
- Mobile phone numbers and text-message opt-in information are never sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Text messages
We send text updates only to people who checked the opt-in box on our request form. Messages are only ever about your own request — a welcome confirming your request ID, and news when your child's shoes are covered. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help. Opting in to texts is never a condition of receiving shoes.
Who helps us run this
Like every modern organization, we rely on a small set of service providers, each of which receives only what it needs to do its job: Stripe (payment processing), Supabase (secure database hosting), Netlify (website hosting), Resend (email delivery), Twilio (text delivery), and Anthropic (automated sorting of contact-form messages). None of them may use your information for their own purposes.
How it's stored
Information is stored in an access-controlled database. Personal details are never published, and inside the organization they're visible only to the small team that administers the program. Payment credentials are held by Stripe, not by us.
Your choices
Want to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you or your request? Email info@leslieslaces.org and we'll take care of it. Text opt-outs work instantly by replying STOP.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. The promises in "What we never do" are not the kind of thing we change.
