The ground rules

These are the terms for using the Leslie's Laces website and program. We've written them in plain language on purpose — they mean what they say. By using this website, you agree to them.
Who we are
Leslie's Laces is a Texas nonprofit corporation that connects families requesting new back-to-school shoes for their students with supporters who cover the cost. We act as the facilitator between the two: we review requests, post them anonymously, collect donations, and purchase and ship shoes (or coordinate supporters who ship directly).
Requesting shoes
By submitting a shoe request, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Submitting a request does not guarantee shoes. We fulfill requests as supporter funding allows, and the response has been far larger than anyone expected. We wish we could promise every request; we can only promise an honest effort.
- One child per form. Submit the form once for each child. This is how every child gets their own spot on the board.
- The information you give must be truthful and accurate. These shoes are bought with donated money, and honest information is how we honor the people giving it.
- We may remove requests that appear fraudulent, duplicated, incomplete, or inconsistent with the program's purpose. Where something just looks like a mistake, we'll try to reach you and fix it together.
Covering a pair and donating
- Checkout always shows the exact total before you pay, with the payment processing cost itemized. The amount on the Shoe Board is the cost of the shoes; the checkout total adds the processing cost so the full shoe amount reaches the child.
- When your payment completes, the request is marked pending. It's crossed off as done only after a real person confirms the shoes were actually purchased and shipped — we don't cross children off a list on autopilot.
- If a specific request you covered can't be fulfilled — for example, the family can't be reached — your gift is used to cover shoes for another child. See our Donation Policy.
Text messages
If you check the text-updates box on the request form, we'll text you about your own request — a welcome with your request ID, and news when your child's shoes are covered. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Opting in is never a condition of receiving shoes.
Using this website
- Don't misuse the site: no false submissions, no attempts to access other people's information, no interference with the service.
- The Shoe Board's content is anonymous by design. Don't attempt to identify the families behind requests.
- We may update, pause, or discontinue parts of the site as the program requires (for example, pausing new requests while we catch up).
Our discretion
Leslie's Laces administers this program at its reasonable discretion: which requests are posted, how donations are applied consistent with our Donation Policy, and how fulfillment is carried out. We exercise that discretion with one goal — getting shoes to as many students as honestly and quickly as we can.
The honest legal part
The website and program are provided "as is." To the fullest extent the law allows, Leslie's Laces is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the site. Nothing on this site is legal, tax, or financial advice. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. If we change these terms, we'll update this page and its date.
